The General Authority of Zakat and Income announced the launch of the “Value Added Tax Guide for Electronic Stores” to enable the owners of online stores to comply with their duties related to the value added tax, and to guide them on how to register, submit a declaration, and pay the tax due.
The guide includes a definition of electronic stores, which are those operating through independent websites, social media platforms, smart phone applications, or instant messaging applications.
The Zakat and Income Authority stressed the need for the online store to display the VAT registration certificate clearly in front of consumers, regardless of the electronic selling platform through which the merchant operates, similar to the rest of the stores assigned to the Authority and operating through other sales outlets. In order to avoid imposing fines on the store.
